I did not like the default KDE4-KDM theme so I decided to port one of my favourite KDE3-KDM themes to KDE4. The original great theme belongs to lzfy ([link]).
Enjoy and thanks for voting.
INSTALL:
You have to do everything manually:
1) Extract the downloaded file to /usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes (may be different for you)
2) edit (use sudo) the file /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc and change the line "Theme=/usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/oxygen"
Thanks. I am sorry but I don't think I can export this to Gnome, I do not how gdm works. However, you can get this theme easily if you use kdm instead of gdm.
Note that you do not have to install the whole kde environment in order to use kdm. KDM is just the display manager, not the desktop environment.
That said, you can install kdm (sudo apt-get install kdm, if you use debian-based distro) and I will send you the KDE3 version of the theme. ))
